Hello, Friend.
The story is simple:
Ten years ago, I was an overworked and underpaid high school teacher. I'd just been promoted to department chair, but quickly became burned out from leading 30 teachers in one of the largest counties in the United States while teaching multiple courses and leading after school clubs.
The job was nothing but relationships– with the teachers, parents, students, and other department chairs. And along the way, I became fascinated by the unique dynamics that I witnessed among the women. The women teachers had unspoken rules in their friendships. The students did, too.
Once I left the classroom, I entered the world of public relations. I found myself working with charismatic, high-achieving women only to learn that– like my students– they, too, were secretly navigating complicated dynamics in their same-sex friendships.
So I began to leverage my education background to study what the latest research has to say about women's cooperation, communication, and conflict.
Then I began sharing what I was learning on social media.
Soon, major organizations began to invite me to consult with their teams, including the NFL, NBA, Etsy, TikTok and Bumble.
In 2024, my book Fighting for Our Friendships: The Science and Art of Conflict and Connection in Women's Relationships was released into the world (Hachette).
This led to even more opportunities: developing curriculum for the country's largest sororities, serving as a research consultant for global friendship apps, and becoming a recurring guest expert on the TODAY Show, theSkimm, The Tamron Hall Show, and in the New York Times.
I saw firsthand that knowing how to be visible is a powerful skill that allowed my work to reach more women. So I decided to revive my public relations consulting firm, TELL Public Relations, to help other thought leaders get more of the shine they deserve.
I love talking about the unique ways that women connect with one another, whether I'm sharing friendship research or helping a woman develop a personal brand.
And while my job titles continue to grow, I have no plans of simplifying them.
Because I refuse to limit myself in a world where I've got so much work to do.
